How Shopify handles hreflang tags​

Shopify includes built-in international SEO support for multilingual stores.

When you publish multiple languages using Shopify Markets, Shopify automatically generates:

  • Canonical URLs

  • Language-specific URLs

This helps search engines understand which language version of a page should be shown to customers in different regions.

For example:
